Hi, we are here at the Farm Holding “Paolucci Francesco and Giovanni”, owners of a Farm producing peaches, strawberries, potatoes, melons and watermelons.
Mediterranean Fruit Fly
It’s a flatland-area, we are close to the river, therefore a quite humid area.
Last year there was a strong Mediterranean fruit fly attack: all farms had very big problems with picking; consulting a friend he suggested me to try “A Way Out”, a product with no withholding period, because, obviously we were close to the picking, we could not chemically intervene, therefore, the only way to try to save, at least, if not all the production, a part of it, was “A Way Out”; we did 2 to 3 interventions, 7 to 8 days apart; indeed, I will say more: the last step was done two days before the picking, just because we had no witholding period problems then we could get very close.
I can say that the result, unlike many other companies, it has been very satisfying.
I must say that “A Way Out” had a more repellant effect than chemical because, due to it not being a chemical, on peach, I repeat, the crop was not completely damaged, we picked a good 70%.
