Drosophila Suzukii
A problem we have had for several years, for about 7-8, 10 years too, is the problem, especially on cherry tree, of Drosophila Suzukii; It is a really important problem that leads, in some cases, to the destruction of the entire crop; therefore, the possible solutions are essentially two: a mechanical protection, by installing anti-insect netting for Drosophila Suzukii, as you can see behind my shoulders, achieving a complete protection against the problem; this however implies higher system costs, management difficulties, of opening and closing the nets during the picking phase, therefore you also need a non-shallow netting management; or chemical defense, but we know more and more that the allowed products are less and less, and during the picking phase it’s always a big problem because all markets are heading in the direction of “Zero Residues” fruit, therefore, here, too, there is a constant work of research for alternative solutions; in the last two years, We’ve tried “A Way Out”, the repellent product, also aimed at controlling this pathogen; we used “A Way Out” in the portion of the farm not covered by anti-insect netting, to look for alternative solutions for those who cannot neither afford nor even have the morphological conditions to install the anti-insect netting, we must have an alternative solution that works.
In our tests we have to say that it worked very well, There is a work of perfectioning the timing of application of this product, however, I have to say that it proved to be really valid compared to the untreated portion: we had more than 60% less damage in the portion of the company where we used “A Way Out”.
We will keep to use it here and also in our farms abroad, including Northern Europe, Eastern Europe, Turkey, Southern Italy, and all over Europe.
I got the anti-insect netting here, I used it in the rows without the netting, and I have to tell you the truth: I have not had any damage.
Resistance Inductor with Antifeeding Action; a real weapon for farmers and technicians What is the real value of the product?
Undoubtedly, the advent of these products on the market, as regards positive factors for those who use them, in addition to trying to ensure the product the maximum quality and maximum profitability, Due to our being in a time in which agriculture is increasingly in crisis, to European limitations, to markets that change day by day, surely it brings advantages in terms of time: spending less time in the orchard or greenhouse, using very expensive treatments, with which they have a restricted effect, by using high quality products, the time you earn, which will not be dedicated to treatments, it can be dedicated to perfecting other aspects that concern our job; This happens to me every day, and I have to say that I am very happy in this case.
